What’s new Inside Hackney

It’s been a wee while coming, but we’re working hard on the second edition of Inside Hackney, due to hit the borough in early May 2017. Here’s a sample of some of the great features coming up in edition two. If there’s anything you’d like to see in the book, from club nights to art classes to volunteer opportunities please drop us a line.

Businesses looking to advertise and support our project should also get in touch. We still have a couple of pages free for ads – our gorgeous guidebook goes to 25,000 Hackney residents.

Hackney eats

Something old, something new – from Turkish standbys to vegan Mexican pop-ups, we will feature our favourite places to chow down in the borough. my neighbours the dumplings in Clapton is one of our faves.

Hackney shops

If books are supposed to be on the way out, nobody told Hackney. We love our independent bookshops, from newby Burley Fisher to the longstanding Broadway Bookshop. Other shopping standouts are the brilliant, creative and ethical secondhand stores, such as Traid, Crisis and retro glam store/music venue Paper Dress Vintage.

Musical Hackney

Free music, experimental music, classical recitals, fantastic radio station NTS broadcasting electronica, dusty vinyl, hip-hop and soul from the heart of the borough – Hackney has something for everyone. We are currently loving the dreamy Peach night run by Alabaster de Plume at alternative Stokey venue Total Refreshment Centre.

Healthy Hackney

We know how to keep on our toes in Hackney, from the warm-hearted Good Gym to high energy Morning Gloryville (next session March 1) to the sylvan pleasures of paddleboarding the canals.

Carnival Hackney

Hackney’s carnival is unmissable – find out all about it in our next edition.
